The note's exact failure. The rule accepts E.164 and North American formats and normalises on save — a strict local pattern would lock out a real international applicant.

Feedback is on blur and submit, never every keystroke — telling someone their email is wrong at the third character is hostile.

One definition per field type, shared by every form — two copies of a rule is how 'valid here, rejected there' happens.

The browser is a courtesy layer; the server is the authority. A client that does not run the regex changes nothing — the same rule refuses the same value twice.
